Dr. James M. Hart CBE QPM
Position: Non-Executive Director
James is a policing, security and investigations specialist who has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience at board level from both the public and private sectors.
James has participated at the highest level, leading multi-agency teams overseeing the counter terrorism arrangements for the City of London, frequently exchanging expertise and forming strong relationships with overseas agencies, including the FBI and NYPD. He held the post of Chair of the national police chief’s economic crime portfolio, through which he led a greater involvement of the financial services industry, regulators and others in the formulation of a national fraud and economic crime investigation policy.
As one of London’s most experienced operational commanders, he regularly oversaw major ceremonial, public order and pan London events. Previous police service was with the Surrey and Metropolitan Police, which included highly successful varied and extensive, operational, security and investigative command experience at New Scotland Yard, the Diplomatic Protection Group and territorial divisions of Wandsworth and Notting Hill.
In the private sector, James was appointed by a major international investment bank as UK security advisor. He also accepted NED roles as chair of a UK software engineering business and joined the board of a prestigious security company.
James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems and Management, (1981) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Systems Science (1994) from the City University Business School.
He was honoured with the Queens Police Medal in 1999 and appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2006.
Married to Julie, James lives in France, plays something loosely approaching golf and spends time immersed in projects around the house and garden they designed
